October is a great time to be a resident of Hampton Plaza Apartments. The air is crisp, the apples are fresh and there’s plenty to (safely) do in downtown Towson.
Here’s a look at what’s happening in the neighborhood this month:
Dining Out in Towson
Dining out continues to look a little different than normal, with more masks, more outdoor seating, and fewer patrons inside restaurants. But the Towson food scene is as terrific as ever, with fun events and great opportunities to get out of the kitchen.
Towson Tavern
At Towson Tavern, the menu is changing with the season; it’s now showcasing the best fall produce and other harvest season goodies, in dishes like an apple craisin crumb with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of salted caramel.
Cunningham’s Café
Cunningham’s Café is also celebrating the season with specials, like a cinnamon maple brioche.
Café Troia
Café Troia is breaking out the heaters to get its al fresco space ready for cooler weather. Even as the temperature drops, dining on the restaurant’s pretty, covered deck will remain comfortable.
So Good Barbeque
The So Good Barbeque truck will pop-up behind The Point on Monday, Oct. 5. You can sit on the patio at The Point and enjoy half-priced select whiskeys and bourbons, among other specials, and grab food from the truck.
Razorback’s Raw Bar & Grill
Unfortunately, this past month has brought some sad news on the restaurant front: Razorback’s Raw Bar & Grill has closed permanently.
Gameday
M&T Stadium might not be open for fans this season, but the Ravens are still making things happen on the field. In Towson, local bars and restaurants have terrific game day specials and tons of TVs for a great viewing experience.
Nacho Mama’s
Nacho Mama’s has outdoor seating with big screens plus tons of specials, including deals on their fantastic margaritas.
The Point
When you reserve a table at The Point, $50 gets you the table, a bucket of Bud Light, a platter of wings, fries and dips.
C&R Pub
At C&R Pub, gameday specials include $5, $8 and $10 plates, 99-cent wings and drink specials including $10 Miller Lite pitchers.
CVP
CVP’s deals include $9.99 buckets of Corona products and $19.99 party tubs.
THB
Even if you’re watching the game at home, you can do it in tasty style with purple bagels from THB. The Ravens-inspired bagels are available each weekend, starting on Fridays.
The Point
Live Music: The Point in Towson will host the Jules Riser Band on Oct. 4 and Bread & Cheese on Oct. 23 – get there early for both!
Barley’s Backyard Uptown
At Barley’s Backyard Uptown, Chris Diller will play from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 2 and 16 – get there for happy hour, which starts at 3 p.m. and settle in for dinner and tunes.
Art at the Mall
From now through Oct. 20, check out the work of Dan Keplinger in storefront displays on levels two and four of Towson Town Center. The mall and Towson University are partnering on this exhibit showcasing the work of Keplinger, the Towson MFA grad who rose to national fame as the central character in the short film “King Gimp,” which won an Oscar.
The exhibit has been created in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
Farmers’ Market Is Still in the Swing of Thing
Every Thursday, the Towson Farmers’ Market pops up on Allegheny Ave. from 10: 45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market features tons of great food, beverage, craft and art vendors and continues through October and November.
New Shop Alert
Taken, the fun pop-up shop featuring cool art, furniture and other items from local artisans, will open in Dulaney Plaza shopping center, in the back building near Towne Barre, The Rellim Collection and FORM Salon
Taken is an excellent place for holiday shopping…or shopping for yourself.
