Kids are back in school, college students are back on campus, and Towson feels alive – it must be September. Whether you’re a college student or a local resident, there’s so much to love about the fall in downtown Towson. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the Hampton Plaza Apartments neighborhood:

At the Schools

The fall semester is a busy time at local colleges, which have tons of athletic, cultural and academic events on their calendars for the next few months.

At Towson University, the football team has a busy schedule at home. Following an away opener vs. the University of Maryland on Sept. 2, Tigers football will also host Monmouth (Sept. 9), Norfolk State (Sept. 23), University of Albany (Oct. 7), University of Delaware (Oct. 28) and University of Rhode Island (Nov. 18), all at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Volleyball, field hockey and women’s soccer also have solid fall schedules, playing competition ranging from Dartmouth to UMBC.

On the arts front, TU’s students and faculty will deliver an engaging series of talks, exhibitions and concerts this fall, including an Oct. 15 performance by the TU Jazz Faculty Ensemble, and a Noontime Jazza event from Towson students on Oct. 17.

In addition to tons of games for the men’s and women’s soccer teams and women’s volleyball and field hockey, Goucher College has a vibrant schedule of talks and performances lined up this fall. On Sept. 18, U of Maryland professor Dr. Holly Brewer will present a Constitution Day lecture and on Sept. 18, My Time Among the Whites author Jennine Capo Crucet will discuss her book. On Sept. 22, the public is invited to meet guest artist in residence, choreographer Gabrille Lamb, and later in the fall, the Peabody at Goucher Chamber Music series of concerts begins.
