Police Person of the Year

Andrea is another amazing person that resides at Hampton Plaza. She has been named “Police Person of the Year” in Baltimore City. This is an incredible honor that speaks to the leadership qualities that Andrea possesses. What an achievement after only three years on the job! Her award is not only a tribute to her outstanding professionalism but also to her commitment to the people of the Eastern District of Baltimore.

Prior to working as a police officer Andrea worked as an ER tech at John Hopkins hospital. She left seeking a new challenge.  She started at the police academy in October of 2020 and after graduation in May of 2021 she had three months of field training. Andrea sees her job as helping people and I am sure that her positive attitude has contributed greatly to her success in her new profession. Beyond her police work Andrea acts as a neighborhood coordinator providing programming and special events to the area she serves. As an example, the activities include a Back-to-School Event that provides book bags, haircuts, and hairstyles to students.

Another source of pride is Andrea’s godson, Kaden. He also resides with her at Hampton Plaza. Kaden is a 17-year-old who plays football for Dunbar High. They won the state championship!  He has one more year left in high school and already 15 schools are interested in recruiting him. Kaden already knows that he wants to be a pathologist. His interest in this started when he was just 13 and participated in a STEM summer program at Hopkins where he became CPR certified. He also works as a lifeguard in the summer at the city pools. This is a young man to watch in the future!

Andrea has a twin sister that lives in Baltimore and her partner is also a resident at Hampton Plaza. Next year Andrea will turn 50 and when she turns 55 she plans to retire and head to a sunny beach! We wish her only sunshine and cool breezes after serving the people of Baltimore so well.
