Spotlight on Gerald T. on the 18th floor
Jerry has been at Hampton Plaza for five years and is very happy with his decision to move here. He really appreciates the diversity of our residents and our central location.
Having served as a pastor for 45 years Jerry thought he was retiring several years ago. He took a job as an usher at the Cinemark and then as an usher at Camden Yards but when those positions came to an end he was happy to return to part-time work as a pastor at a congregation in Brooklyn Park. There he currently does pastoring and leads worship 1 or 2 days a week for a congregation of about 80 people.
Jerry was married for 37 years. He and his wife were foster parents to 14 children (wonderful!); two of whom they adopted. He has 3 biological children and his total of 5 children have given him 10 grandchildren. Three of his children are living in other states-North Carolina, Missouri, and Georgia. Two of his children and three of his grandchildren live nearby and Jerry is very involved in their upbringing. They are frequently at Hampton Plaza.
The Todd clan remains close, and they all came together a few years ago for Jerry’s 68th birthday. That celebration was in our party room. With such a large family Jerry has many choices on where to spend Xmas. His hobby of working on Lego projects inspired him to give Lego sets as presents to all the grandchildren.
All of his children and grandchildren must consider themselves lucky to have Jerry, with his gently nature and steady hand, in their lives. We are also lucky to have him as a resident.
