Thankful & Festive in Downtown Towson

HolidayCookies_miroslava

Over the next few weeks, we’ll think of all we have to be grateful for on Thanksgiving, then turn our thoughts to the holiday season, as the Towson tree lights flicker on and local shops and restaurants deck their halls in festive colors.

Though this year looks different this year for Hampton Plaza Apartments residents and people all over the country and world, we still have plenty to celebrate – and many ways to do that in downtown Towson.

Here’s a look at what’s happening over the next few weeks just outside the doors of Hampton Plaza:

Restaurant News

Given the rapidly changing COVID landscape, restaurant guidelines are a moving target. In mid-November, downtown Towson restaurants are still open for both indoor and outdoor dining, but at reduced capacity. Many are also still offering curbside pickup and delivery.

Even with the restrictions, local spots are getting creative and keeping the energy high to offer fun, satisfying and safe dining experiences.

Nacho Mama’s

Nacho Mama’s has a Thanksgiving quesadilla on the menu – just in time to get you ready for the big turkey day.

Thanksgiving Plans

From carryout turkeys to Turkey Bowl viewing parties, Towson restaurants are giving thanks in style.

The centrally-located café also has a terrific holiday takeaway menu available, with options including a whole roasted turkey, brioche cider stuffing, sauerkraut, and classic pumpkin pie. You can either purchase individual items a la carte or simplify with the purchase of family-style meals including proteins and sides.

Giving Back

From Nov. 20 through Dec. 11, Towson Town Center is partnering with Volunteers of America on a winter clothing drive benefiting those in our community. Donate new coats, hats, scarves, and gloves at the mall to help out your neighbors in need.

Gearing Up for the Holidays

Holiday season starts promptly after the Thanksgiving dishes are done though this year, options to celebrate in Towson look a little different than they did in the past.

Santa will be available for in-person photos at Towson Town Center, starting on Friday, Nov.27. Unlike years past, when North Pole visitors could line up at the mall, this year, reservations are required for Santa visits, and numerous safety precautions will be in place.

The mall also has a virtual Santa visit option in place, if you’d rather see the big guy from the comfort and safety of your apartment.

The mall will host a holiday expo, featuring goods from Maryland small businesses, on Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 5 and 6 and a holiday market for local makers on Saturday, Dec. 12.
